Vitamin K2, also known as menaquinone, is produced by bacteria found in your gastrointestinal tract. Vitamin K2 goes directly to the walls of your blood vessels, bones and other non-liver tissues.

This natural vitamin is highly bioavailable, fundamental in the calcium mechanism since it activates osteocalcin (protein in charge of fixing calcium in the bones) and Matrix Gla Protein (protein that inhibits the calcification of the arteries). Numerous studies published in scientific journals support this.

A small amount of this vitamin is produced in the intestine, however, this amount is not sufficient to activate all the K-dependent proteins (there are 32) present outside the liver (we recall that vitamin K1 is not able to leave the liver and therefore only activates the coagulation factors that are present in the liver).

In the past, in our diet we supplemented this lack of vitamin K2-7 with naturally fermented cheese or natural butter, as now most of us have eliminated these foods from our diet we may have a chronic deficiency leading to osteoporosis.

In Asia, on the other hand, they compensated for this lack by ingesting natto, a fermented soybean product with a very high concentration of K2-7. One of the first and most interesting studies is that of Kaneki (attached), which refers to this product and in which it is proven that women in Eastern Japan break their hips less often than women in Western Japan due to the fact that the consumption of natto is older.

The EFSA opinion describes vitamin K2-7 as a highly available form of vitamin K that supports the maintenance of healthy bones.

Vitamin K2-7 is the most bioavailable form and osteocalcin (a protein responsible for calcium fixation in the bones) and MGP (a protein responsible for preventing calcification of the arteries) are 'activated'. by means of a gamma carboxylation process which only occurs in the presence of this vitamin.

K2-7 is of natural origin (soybean fermentation), so there are no isomers that can affect it as in the case of synthetic K2-7.

But another of its main functions is to activate the proteins that control cell growth. This means that vitamin K2 plays a very important role in cancer protection,â? says Rheaume-Bleue.

When we lack vitamin K2, we are at a much higher risk of osteoporosis, heart disease and cancer.. And these three diseases used to be relatively uncommon. Over the last 100 years, because we have changed the way we produce our food and the way we eat, these diseases have become quite common.â?

Researchers are also studying other health benefits. For example, a recent study published in the journal Modern Rheumatology found that vitamin K2 has the potential to improve disease activity in addition to osteoporosis in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Another paper published in the journal Science found that vitamin K2 works as a mitochondrial electron transporter, thus aiding in the maintenance of ATP production in mitochondrial dysfunction, such as that found in Parkinson's disease.

According to the authors:

We identified UBIAD1/Heix Drosophilia as a modifier of a gene mutated in Parkinson's disease that affects mitochondrial function. We found that vitamin K2 was necessary and sufficient for electron transfer in Drosophila mitochondria.

Heix mutants showed severe mitochondrial defects that were rescued by vitamin K2 and similar to ubiquinone, the electrons transferred by vitamin K2 to Drosophila mitochondria lead to more efficient production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). So, the mitochondrial dysfunction was fixed by vitamin K2 which serves as a transporter of mitochondrial electrons that help maintain normal ATP production?

Our Vitamin K2-7 is:

  • Totally natural and pure, totally Trans with no traces of CIS Isomers.
  • Because it is obtained by biofermentation, it contains micronutrients essential for its absorption and better utilization.
  • Free of chemical impurities and metabolites.
  • Although it is a fat-soluble vitamin, because it is completely natural, it does not tend to accumulate in the liver or other tissues, so it does not have any potentially toxic effect.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: One capsule per day.
