TRADITIONAL USE OF ITS COMPONENTS: Pelargonium sidoides D.C. (Geraniaceae) is a perennial herbaceous plant that has been popularly used in southern Africa for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory tract infections, including tuberculosis.
It is made up of six main groups of compounds:
1. Proanthocyanidins consisting predominantly of catechol and gallocatechol units (40%).
2. Monomeric and oligomeric carbohydrates (12%)

5. Purine derivatives (2%)
6. Substituted coumarins (2%) Among the coumarins, 7-hydroxy-5,6-dimethoxycoumarin (UMCKALIN) has been found only in this species and has been shown to be the most active against various pathogenic bacteria.
Part used/valuation Root/Ratio 10:1 For every 45 drops (2.25 ml) its valuation is 112.5 mg equivalent to 1.125 mg of fluid extract.

Among the pharmacological properties of Pelargonium sidoides, its antibacterial activity against some gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, streptococcusβ-hemolytic) and gram-negative (E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae) germs stands out.
It is currently being used in the treatment of the common cold in children and adults, acute bronchitis, acute rhinosinusitis, pharyngitis and tonsillopharyngitis (sore throat).
Upper respiratory tract infections are diseases that although their etiology is viral, sometimes bacterial complications may appear.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: Take 15 drops 3 times a day (0.75 ml) dissolving them in a little mineral water or honey. Gargle and swallow. DOES NOT CONTAIN ALCOHOL.
