TRADITIONAL USE OF ITS COMPONENTS:

GRIFFONIA SIMPLICIFOLIA It is very important to highlight that 5-HTP for its conversion into Serotonin needs Magnesium citrate and above all Vitamins B3 and B6 to complete its metabolic pathway. B3 and B6 to complete its metabolic pathway. Most 5-HTP, also known as oxitriptan INN, is extracted from the seeds of a shrub native to Western Africa called Griffonia simplicifolia.

WHAT IS 5-HTP 5-HTP or "hydroxy L-tryptophan" (5-hydroxytryptophan) is a naturally occurring amino acid that is the precursor in the biosynthesis of the neurotransmitters serotonin and melatonin from tryptophan.

5-HTP is converted into the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-HT), with the help of vitamin B6. This occurs in both nerve tissue and liver.

5-HTP crosses the blood-brain barrier (whereas 5-HT does not). Therefore, its supplementation increases the production of serotonin.

HEALTH BENEFITS: It is a plant widely used to help with obesity (diet), premenstrual syndrome, migraines, depression, anxiety, insomnia and addictive behaviors. Rich in 5 HTP which increases the production of serotonin.

Serotonin is responsible for feelings of well-being, contentment and normal sleep patterns. Obesity, premenstrual syndrome, migraines, depression, anxiety, insomnia and addictive behaviors have been associated with low serotonin levels. Serotonin plays an important role in the control of anger, aggression, body temperature, mood, sleep, human sexuality, appetite and metabolism.

Stress and poor eating habits are believed to lower serotonin levels in the body. It is known that irritability, aggression, impatience, anxiety are the causes for the body to release serotonin which if not replenished through foods rich in it causes weight gain, depression, headaches and muscle aches.

Clinical studies have shown that supplementation with 5-HTP produces positive results in weight loss, anxiety and depression. Improves sleep patterns and reduces carbohydrate intake in those on low-carbohydrate diets. Anyone using a weight loss program similar to the Atkins diet may experience a reduction in serotonin levels due to the fact that carbohydrates stimulate serotonin production in the body. The release of serotonin is triggered by a carbohydrate load (sugar, etc.).

When the brain produces serotonin, tension is relieved. Conversely, when the brain produces dopamine or norepinephrine (noradrenaline), we tend to think and act more quickly. Therefore, ingesting carbohydrates seems to have a calming effect, while proteins increase alertness.

DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY: Some research that has been done with 5-HTP shows that it has potential to help with depression and possibly anxiety, panic disorders, sleep disorders and obesity.

5-HTP appears to have the same effects as the antidepressant SSRIs.

HYPERICIN: Thanks to two of its elements (hypericin and hyperforin) present in high concentrations, its use as an antidepressant produces a decrease in anxiety and aggressiveness, helping to improve the symptoms of depression and increasing physical well-being.

It is recommended for cases of mild to moderate depression or anxiety: those states of physical and emotional decay, lack of appetite, sleeping difficulties, etc. These therapeutic effects begin to be noticed after 2 or 3 weeks of starting to take hypericum.

Other Applications

Natural antacid: Reduces problems related to stomach acidity, such as discomfort, heavy digestions, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Diuretic: Limonene helps to eliminate toxins from the body and thus improve the general physical condition when consumed. It helps patients with fluid retention, hypertension, arthritis or gout.

RODHIOLA: Rhodiola rosea is one of the species known as adaptogens, a term coined in the 1950s by the Russian pharmacologist Lazarev that refers to 'a substance that has no side effects at the recommended dose and that non-specifically improves the body's resistance to diseases and different types of stress'.

It is used to improve physical capacity, increase longevity and treat fatigue, impotence, anemia, depression, altitude sickness and gastrointestinal ailments. It is currently used mainly as a stimulant tonic and to combat stress, fatigue and mild-moderate depressive states.

Its bioactive compounds include rosavins and salidroside. The rosavins (rosavin, rosarin and rosin) belong to the phenylpropanoid group and are specific to this species, and the salidroside (also known as rhodioloside) which is a derivative of phenylethanol.

Different studies have demonstrated the efficacy of R. rosea extract in reducing fatigue due to stressful situations, improving mental fatigue, physical fitness and psychomotor function and also an antidepressant action.

Rhodiola's mode of action against stress is based on the regulation of different parameters, such as the modulation of cortisol levels (stress hormone), nitric oxide and stress response proteins (HSP or chaperones).

Its antidepressant effect is due to the inhibition of monoamine oxidase A and B, enzymes that degrade the neurotransmitters serotonin and adrenaline, and are involved in depression and senile dementia.

OATS: It is a cereal especially rich in vitamin E and B vitamins (mainly B1, B5 and B6). It stands out for its high content of minerals such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, zinc and essential amino acids such as leusine, isoleusine, threonine and methionine, for which emollient, sedative and antidepressant properties are attributed to it.

Oats act as a balancer of the nervous system, calms states of irritability and mild anxiety, relieves insomnia, even in young children, and promotes intellectual performance.

Oats are indicated in cases of intestinal and bronchial inflammations, depression, nervousness, stress, smoking and drug addiction, and asthenia.

L-PHENYLALANINE: This is an amino acid that has the ability to block certain enzymes such as enkephalinases, which are found in the central nervous system and normally serve to degrade certain hormones called enkephalins and natural endorphins, morphine-like substances. These hormones have the function of acting as endogenous analgesics.

Properties and favorable reactions of phenylalanine in the body:

  • Analgesic: helps to relieve or soothe pain.
  • Antidepressant: helps to combat depressive states and elevates the mood.
  • Satiety sensation: helps to reduce appetite in a natural way. Regulates heart rate.
  • It is recommended to soothe some pains such as lower back pain.
  • Useful for treating headache, menstrual cramps, muscle pain or those associated with rheumatoid arthritis and/or osteoarthritis.
  • Increases endorphin levels.
  • Used in antidepressant treatments.
  • Stimulates brain functions.
  • Strengthens memory and learning.
  • Helps stimulate alertness and vitality. It intervenes in the formation of collagen, so it is very useful in problems of skin blemishes and as a preventive to avoid sagging skin and brittle nails or hair.
  • It collaborates to form some neurohormones and therefore decreases symptoms of some neurological diseases.

TYROSINE: It is a non-essential amino acid, essential for the production of important neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and noradrenaline. Increases body resistance and decreases fatigue. It has been used in cases of depression and is known to be important for the creation of melanin, a substance that protects against the negative effects of ultraviolet light.

Tyrosine properties:

  • Increases the body's resistance to physical and emotional stress.
  • Mitigates pain.
  • It is necessary for skin pigmentation.
  • It is a protection against free radicals.
  • Improves mood.
  • Increases memory.
  • Prevents allergies.
  • Reduces mental and physical exhaustion.
  • Improves fat metabolism.

They can benefit from the intake of tyrosine:

  • Stressed people.
  • Those who need to increase their mental alertness.
  • Children with attention deficit disorder.
  • Those suffering from chronic fatigue.
  • People who need to improve their memory.
  • Those who suffer from insomnia.
  • People who want to lose weight.
  • Those who suffer from any type of allergy.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Consult with your physician to avoid interacting in treatments with MAO inhibitors, antidepressants, or if you are receiving treatment for Parkinson's disease.

Excess 5-HTP is believed to be metabolized and excreted, especially when taken with vitamin B6.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

  • Take one capsule in the morning and one in the evening with water or juice.
  • To improve sleep, it is recommended to take one capsule 30 minutes before going to bed, since in addition to the production of serotonin, 5-HTP also produces melatonin, a hormone that induces sleep.
  • For weight loss or to reduce migraines take one to three a day.
